Greg James is to take over Radio 1 Early
Breakfast!
Wise Buddah Talent's Greg James takes over the prestigious Radio 1 early breakfast slot, having been plucked from student radio in June this year. His new show will start mid-October as part of a host of changes to the stations schedule.
On his appointment to the station Greg said, "The prospect of working alongside the presenters that I listened to growing up is very exciting. I have always listened to Radio 1 and I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to be a part of its future.
Only a few months ago, I was finishing university, doing shows on my student station hoping that I'd get the chance to do a show one day on my favourite station. This opportunity is simply mind-blowing!"
Ben Cooper, Head of Programmes, Radio 1 said "The line-up allows us to nurture new talent and at the same time have the biggest DJs in terms of both music and entertainment on the station – it's a total package for our audience to enjoy and for me represents public service at its best.”
In other news about Greg's Wise Buddah stablemate, Vicki Blight will now be presenting Radio 1's Friday Early Breakfast until the end of October. Dave Pearce moves to the dedicated dance genre Friday nights (11-1am).
Steve Lamacq’s Monday evening In New Music We Trust and Scott Mills’ award winning Drive Time show remain unchanged.
