Radio 1 Presenter and Wise Buddah Talent’s very own Scott Mills is to front the new BBC Three entertainment event Upstaged, which invites the public to "make a show of themselves" by performing a talent that can keep the nation entertained for six hours.
What contestants do is completely up to them – the wilder and wackier the better.
Scott said: "I'm really excited to be involved in such a ground-breaking show. The contestants get six hours in the limelight, so there's scope for lots of creativity and experimentation.
"It's not just about singing or dancing – we're looking for artists, sculptors, wit and wisdom, anyone with a unique idea that they think will keep the nation entertained for eight hours. There's loads of information on the website bbc.co.uk/upstaged so it's easy to find out how you can take part.
"It's great that the public have the power – they pick who goes into the box and who gets to return to defend their status the next day.
"Even if you're not performing, you're still part of the action. You can vote, chat online with other viewers, invite others to view and join, campaign for your favourite acts – it really will be the public's programme."
The show will see two acts compete to "upstage" each other by performing their talents in two huge 15 x 25ft glass boxes, both in full public view in Millennium Square in Bristol.
In a twist from other shows, there is no judging panel. The decision of who goes in and who goes out – and ultimately who wins – is entirely in the hands of an online community. The act with the most votes that day stays in their box to compete against a new daily challenger, again picked by the online audience.
The eight-week programme will air exclusively online for five weeks on the BBC Three website, with the final three weeks being accompanied by TV coverage on BBC Three.
